Travel and Logistics
To Note:
All operations are performed on an outpatient basis at a major hospital (Norton Downtown). If you are traveling alone, a nurse transport must be arranged through our office with 30 days or greater notice. A post op nurse can also be arranged on an hourly basis.
Patients who are driving may leave at any time. The first visit is 6-8 days post op, and you must return for this visit if not staying locally.
For patients who are flying, we recommend staying in Louisville at least until the cast/splints are removed 6-8 days later. You cannot fly with internal nasal splints as this may cause ear pressure issues. Most patients fly back home the day of or the day after the cast and splints are removed.
Ideally, we see our out of town patients at 2-3 months post op, followed by 8-12 months, and yearly thereafter. If local, we prefer 1 week, 4-6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and yearly.
