TO NOTE:
All surgeries are “outpatient”, unless you are traveling alone. If alone, you must stay in the hospital 1 night ($290).
We generally recommend patients who are driving from greater than 4 hours drive away stay the first night in Louisville. It is then ok to return home, and return for cast day 6-8 days later.
For patients who require flying, we recommend staying in Louisville until the day after the cast is removed. More complex patients, or patients that are traveling internationally may need to stay for up to 2 weeks.
Patients are seen at the 1 week visit for cast removal.
Ideally, we check on out of town patients at 2-3 months post op, followed by 8-12 months. If local, we prefer 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months.
If complications were to arise (see Risks section), this may require that you travel to Louisville sooner than scheduled. Please take this into account when deciding whether to pursue surgery from a distant location.
